Floradora Part 8, Restringing

There are different ways to restring, I usually decide on a way based on the doll. If this doll were a little bigger I might have done her elbows and knees differently, but it’s one of those six or a half dozen things and I prefer not to stress about it. I use a doubled strand of elastic throughout the body. I think the pictures are pretty self-explanatory. If not, feel free to leave a comment and I will try to clarify. I have taken a piece of elastic and ran it through shoulder part of upper arm, looped it through other loop on lower arm, ran back through upper arm and pulled elastic tight. Next I ran the elastic through the arms holes in the torso and repeated what i did with other arm. When arms are both nice and tight, tie them off.

Had I used hooks instead of elastic in repairing joint, I would loop the elastic through the hook. BUT I DIDN’T. And I don’t want to talk about it ANYMORE. I restrung the legs exactly the same way, except that I did them first and with a much longer piece of elastic and I also forgot to take a picture before I did it. (this is probably passive-aggressive behavior on my part, I just want to make you work for it!) I strung one leg, pulled elastic up through neck of torso and used hemostats to hold the elastic at neck, then pulled elastic back down through neck of torso and through upper thigh of second, caught elastic loop in lower leg, tied off elastic, done! When you have arms and legs strung, she should look like bottom picture.
