Displaying Smaller Dolls

Part of the challenge of owning a collection of anything, is finding interesting ways to display it. Small dolls can get lost in a large group, so I like to build them up a bit. An antique glass dome is always nice and it protects the doll from dust. And another idea you may not have thought of is to frame your doll. This can be easily done by finding an antique frame and building a shallow shadow box behind the opening. Pieces of miniature furniture, drapings and other decorations can be added to give the framed setting a room-like appearance. A shadow box effect can also be achieved with an old clock that no longer has its workings as seen below. This little Parian is just the right size for the clock box. I added lace and feathers for a bit of color and texture.

Keep your dolls away from the water, or I will steal them with my long and brittle fingers…

You’ve always been a weird child.
